In Russia, the Exeed LX has been on sale since March, but initially the model reached us in a stripped down form – with a 1.5 turbo four (147 hp, 210 Nm), which accelerates the compact SUV to 100 km / h in 10.5 s, and variator. In China, the LX is also available with a more powerful engine: the 1.6 T-GDI from the TXL, which already produces 197 hp. With. and 290 “Newtons” (it is also installed in TXL for our market, but is configured for a return of 186 hp and 275 Nm) and works in conjunction with a 7-speed robotic manual gearbox with two “wet” clutches.
However, now Chery has decided to unify the line of powertrains of its premium crossovers. The first-born in this business was the “medium” TXL model – very soon Russian dealers will have cars with a 2.0-liter turbo engine (197 hp, 375 Nm) from the older VX (in order to maintain subordination, the “turbo four” was deforced programmatically). And LX, respectively, will receive 1.6 T-GDI and a “robot”, according to the Chinese Automobiles portal, citing company representatives.
Cars for the local market (LX was introduced in China back in 2019) were offered with such a motor and gearbox initially, but all-wheel drive in China is only a hybrid modification with an electric motor on the rear axle. We won’t have twin-engine Exeed LX yet, but the top-end configuration of the SUV will have an all-wheel drive system with a BorgWarner clutch. The equipment will also include systems for adaptive cruise control, sign recognition and lane keeping – all these functions are already indicated in the Russian-language manual of the car.
According to the publication, all-wheel drive LX with a 1.6 engine will begin to be delivered to Russia towards the end of this year, when the all-wheel drive Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max debuts (LX itself is a product of deep refinement of the original Tiggo 7).
Now the price for Exeed LX in Russia starts at 3 million rubles, excluding discounts. Since mid-March, 817 crossovers have been sold in Russia.
