Mini’s first electric crossover will completely ditch chrome, natural upholstery and even the dashboard.

The main task of the concept is to show the design trends that will determine the look of the brand after the abandonment of the internal combustion engine (this will happen by 2030). Therefore, technical data is kept secret (although production cars will certainly have much in common with BMW classmates), and only dimensions are named: in the Aceman lineup, it will be located between the three-door Cooper and the future Countryman.
The length of the crossover (the British attribute the Aceman to the SUV segment) is 4050 mm, the width is 1990 mm, and the height is 1590 mm, that is, the concept turned out to be immediately 17 cm wider (and 3 cm higher) than the “older” Countryman.
The 20-inch wheels are also designed to highlight short overhangs, but the serial Eysmen, of course, will look more modest.
The main visual motif is the Union Jack scarf: the British flag is played up in the matrix patterns of the false radiator grille, the stuffing of the front and rear optics, and also in the form of a roof rack. And no chrome: the designers decided that the crossover stuffed with LED elements in the stream would not get lost anyway.

The “off-road” image of the car is supported by wide wheel arches, covered with angular matte plastic extensions. Door handles are recessed into the door body – the same solution could be seen in the pre-series tests of the new Cooper. Another innovation is frameless side windows.

The interior has more specifics – and reforms. For the sake of rider space, the British lowered the central tunnel. Only a cup holder remained on it, the parking brake and transmission controls are placed higher. According to the company, the interior of the concept is close to the ideals of Alec Issigonis, the author of the original Mini. The new electrocross did not even need a traditional instrument panel, all the necessary indicators are projected onto the front panel.

Of course, in its center, a round display has also been preserved, which has acquired an OLED matrix (the British boast of a contrast image with deep blacks and report that this is the first such display in the auto industry).
The system runs on the open source Android architecture, which will allow developers to add new features in the future. A system for projecting navigator pointers onto the front panel is already ready, as well as various options for lighting and sound.

Interior trim materials for the Aceman were developed separately. The center console and door cards are upholstered in recycled polyester synthetic fabric, the seats are upholstered in a combination of fabric (both flat knit and waffle) and velor, and the steering wheel is also upholstered in velor instead of the usual leather.

With their new electric concept, Mini hopes to attract a younger audience to the ranks of the brand’s fans. Therefore, the place of the Aceman premiere is appropriate – the compact crossover will be shown to the public for the first time at gamescom 2022, which will be held in Cologne from August 24 to 28.
