“The E-Lion project will define Peugeot’s strategy as an electric vehicle brand and give us the confidence that we stay connected to the pulse of society to deliver mobility in line with our brand values,” said Peugeot CEO Linda Jackson.
Over the next two years, the company will launch five new electric vehicles on the market: E-308, E-308 SW (this will be the first European electric station wagon), E-408, E-3008 and E-5008.
The electric 308 and 308 SW will get a 115kW (156hp) powerplant and a range of 400km (WLTP driving cycle); the average electricity consumption will be 12.7 kWh.
In the second half of this year, Peugeot will introduce a new generation crossover C-SUV segment: E-3008. It will be the brand’s first electric vehicle built on the new STLA proprietary platform.
The electric 3008 will be driven by three electric motors, including a dual electric motor. The maximum power reserve of the electric crossover will reach 700 km. Soon after, the older model E-5008 will debut.
As part of E-Lion Day, Peugeot also announced new hybrid models that work according to the so-called “mild” hybrid (MHEV) scheme with a 48-volt on-board electrical system. During this year, hybrid versions of the 208, 2008, 308, 3008, 5008 and 408 models will enter the market. The Peugeot Hybrid 48V system will include new engines from the PureTech family with 100 and 136 hp, paired with a 6-speed gearbox dual clutch transmission (E-DCS6), which has a 21 kW electric motor.
Thanks to the battery, recharged while driving due to the recuperation function, the output of the power plant at low speeds is improved, and the fuel efficiency of new hybrids, according to the manufacturer, improves by an average of 15%. In the urban driving cycle, the new Peugeot hybrids will be able to move on all-electric traction for about 50% of the time.
