At the AvtoVAZ site in Togliatti, preparations are underway for the start of production of the restyled Lada Vesta. On Friday, February 10, the production of a batch of cars was launched there, the press service of the Samara region reports.
In the coming months, AvtoVAZ will continue to set up equipment, organize production and logistics schemes, however, it is stated that serial production of Vesta NG will begin in early March, and official dealers will have 2023 vehicles in April.
During the period of a forced pause caused by sanctions on the supply of imported auto components to Russia, we recall that it was decided to transfer the production of Vesta from Izhevsk to Tolyatti – according to representatives of the Russian auto giant, this will increase the volume of production of the model.
The first test copy of the updated Vesta rolled off the assembly line of the B0 line in November 2022. To resume production of the model, VAZ had to replace more than 200 positions of components and materials blocked for delivery, the press service of the region adds.
In fact, the only victim of the sanctions will be the Lada Xray hatchback, which AvtoVAZ considered unprofitable to resume production at domestic or Chinese nodes. Following Vesta, the Largus family will return to the assembly line, and by the end of the year, Izhevsk plans to produce a pre-production batch of e-Largus electric vehicles.
Also in the second half of the year, the assembly of Chinese C- and D-segment models under the Lada brand will begin at the former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg. At the end of 2024, a new family of B-segment cars will appear on the Russian market (probably, we are talking about the new Granta), and in 2025 a crossover based on Vesta will see the light.
