At an almost home auto show (from Chery’s headquarters in Wuhu to Shanghai a little more than 300 km), Chery Auto introduced two new crossovers – Jaecoo 7 and Jaecoo 9. In fact, these are export versions of Chery TJ-1 and the flagship Tiggo 9. And for the first time, the all-electric Omoda C5 e-QUA cross-coupe is shown – and it will also be sold in our market.
Jaecoo 7 (4500 x 1865 x 1680 mm; wheelbase – 2672 mm) is another version of the familiar Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, but with a more concise design. There is a strict hexagonal grille with vertical slats, retractable door handles and a black-painted roof with pillars, as well as larger 19-inch wheels.
Under the hood is a 1.6-liter SQRF4J16 turbo engine, which is configured for a return of 197 hp in the specification for the local market. With. and 290 Nm. A 7-speed “robot” transmits the moment to the wheels, and the Jaecoo 7 still has a front-wheel drive version (the modification with a rear axle coupling was the first to be certified).
Inside, there is a large tablet of a multimedia system and deliberately brutal door handles and a transmission selector. Apparently, Chery’s Russian marketers will position Jaecoo 7 as a competitor to Haval Dargo.

Jaecoo 9 (4820 x 1930 x 1699 mm; wheelbase – 2820 mm) is just Chery Tiggo 9 with different nameplates. The flagship crossover is equipped with a 2.0-liter F4J20C turbo engine (261 hp, 400 Nm), familiar from the Exeed models (the closest relative of the “nine” is the Exeed RX). But instead of a “robot” there is an 8-speed “automatic” Aisin, although the Chinese did not refuse the initial version with front-wheel drive. There are also three-row versions in the certificate, but we suspect that the Jaecoo 9 will be delivered to us in a “premium” five-seater version, and the Geely Monjaro will become the main rival of the novelty.

Omoda C5 e-QUA is an electric version of the Omoda C5 coupe-shaped crossover, which has successfully settled in the Russian market: in March, none of the Chery models was sold more actively.
Omoda C5 e-QUA
The electric car has a single motor (150 kW / 204 hp, 350 Nm) on the front axle and accelerates to “hundreds” in 7.5 seconds, and the 64 kWh traction battery is enough for 450 km without recharging in the WLTP cycle. But the main thing is that instead of a dimensionless (and obviously redundant, given the working volume of the gasoline engine) radiator grille, the C5 e-QUA has an aerodynamic plug, thanks to which the full face has become more concise and friendlier.

According to Omoda representatives, the electric car will also appear on the Russian market in 2023. Perhaps it is the bright appearance and reputation of a large – at least well-known – automaker that will help the C5 e-QUA find its buyer (I would like to believe that Chery will keep the price around 3.5 million rubles): the Moskvich 3e compact electric crossovers and Evolute i-Joy are still having problems with this.
