Sales of the 4.4-meter coupe-crossover Chery Omoda 5 in China began in mid-June. In our country, the car will be sold under the name Omoda C5 (without mentioning Chery), but if at home it is an openly budget model (the initial price is 92.9 thousand yuan or about 800 thousand rubles), then the Russian representative office attributes the future Omoda brand to the segment high middle and calls it an alternative to the German and Japanese brands that left Russia.
At the same time, from the point of view of technical equipment, the versions of Omoda for the Chinese consumer will surpass export samples. As it became known earlier, our car will be available exclusively with a 1.5-liter turbo engine (147 hp, 210 Nm) and a CVT, although in the local market for a small surcharge (even in the most expensive configuration, the price of Chery Omoda 5 does not exceed 126.9 thousand yuan, or just over 1.1 million rubles), a 1.6 turbo engine (194 hp, 290 Nm) is already available in conjunction with a 7-speed robotic “mechanics”.

The interior of the cars matches only partially. For example, Chery Omoda 5 has a high central tunnel (although the Omoda C5 will also have a wireless smartphone charging function), the shape of the front panel, door cards and transmission selector is also different, Chery-branded cars have a more expensive audio system (“music” in Omoda C5 has only six speakers).

The bucket seats in both versions are identical (the driver’s seat is electrically adjustable in six directions, the passenger in four), but only cars in the basic configuration have a bundle of two 10.25-inch displays in China, and more expensive versions are equipped with a panel of two screens with a diagonal of 12 .3 in. Cross-coupe can be chosen with black or brown interior.

Omoda C5 will receive a system of all-round cameras, a dual-zone “climate”, atmospheric interior lighting, adaptive cruise control and a wide range of other electronic “assistants”. However, the ventilation of the front seats, the function of face and gesture recognition, as well as the sunroof will remain the prerogative of crossovers for China. At least by the time the C5 debuts on the Russian market.
The start of sales of the new model is scheduled for autumn. Omoda C5 will be available in three trim levels and 13 exterior colors to choose from. The Russian representative office of Chery intends to report separately on prices and exact dates for the start of sales.
