By the end of this year, the Lada St. Petersburg plant intends to produce up to 10,000 vehicles, including class C and D models.
From 2024, the enterprise intends to increase the degree of localization of the production of machines; for this purpose, suppliers from St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region will be involved.
In preparation for the production of the new crossover at the St. Petersburg plant, the equipment was modernized, including the main conveyor, the processes of internal logistics and assembly production were changed.
Most of the preparatory work, according to representatives of AvtoVAZ, was carried out by specialists from the Lada St. Petersburg plant.
Crossover Lada X-Cross 5 is equipped with a 160-horsepower turbo engine, paired with a 7-speed “robot”; drive – on the front wheels.
The list of equipment of the model includes, in particular, a complex of active safety systems and ADAS driver assistance (driver fatigue control, lane departure warning, adaptive high beam switching, all-round visibility systems, emergency braking and other systems), as well as a panoramic roof.
The new X-Cross 5 will go on sale in Russia in the third quarter of this year.
“The new car is significant for our company in many respects. For the first time in its history, Lada enters a higher class C, which will help attract new customers to our Brand. The total production of new cars in St. Petersburg in 2023 can reach up to 10 thousand units, new models are ahead of us, including those in the D segment,” said Maxim Sokolov, President of AvtoVAZ JSC.
