The Omoda brand, which is part of the Chery Auto structure, has already launched the second model on the Russian market, this time a C-class sedan. Omoda S5 is a product of a deep modernization of Chery Arrizo 5 (hence the somewhat “outdated” proportions: with an overall length of 4644 mm, there are only 2650 mm between the axles, a width of 1814 mm, a height of 1493 mm), which in China is still sold by price of 69.9–83.9 thousand yuan (827–993 thousand rubles) under the name Chery Arrizo 5 Plus. Ground clearance – 121 mm, trunk volume – 482 liters.
Initially, only versions with atmospheric 1.5 (113 hp, 138 Nm) were indicated in the Russian OTTS, on the basis of which we assumed that Chery decided to separate the Kaiyi E5 and Omoda into different subcategories, addressing the S5 mainly to corporate parks.
However, only the initial (however, very richly equipped) version of Life received a naturally aspirated engine in conjunction with a CVT – and without taking into account discounts, it is immediately 200 thousand rubles more expensive than Kaiyi with a turbo engine (147 hp, 210 Nm) and a “multi-link “on the rear axle instead of a torsion beam: the price list for the Omoda S5 starts at 2,159,900 rubles, excluding discounts.
The Life package is equipped with 16-inch wheels, a sunroof, an all-round camera system, six airbags, remote engine start and interior heating, leather upholstery and air conditioning are also provided, and the steering wheel is adjustable both in reach and height. A digital instrument panel based on a 10.25-inch display and a multimedia system touchscreen of the same size, which can display an image from a smartphone, are installed as standard.
The average Tech equipment (2,269,900 rubles) is offered with a 1.5-liter turbo engine (147 hp, 210 Nm) and a CVT. More powerful sedans get 17-inch alloy wheels, but there are no all-round cameras, power driver’s seat, sunroof and side airbags in this version. But there will be a heated steering wheel, windshield, rear sofa and washer nozzles, single-zone climate control and wireless smartphone charging. The Tech version does not have ceiling lights for rear passengers, but there is an armrest that is inaccessible to cars with aspirated.
All of the above options are provided in the most expensive Ultra configuration (2,469,900 rubles). It also offers adaptive cruise control with lane control, automatic high beams and other electronic assistants.
Unlike the Kaiyi E5 localized on Avtotor, Omoda S5 sedans will be delivered to us from China. Warranty – five years or 150 thousand kilometers.
