The appearance of methane Granta CNG at Lada dealers could have happened earlier. The company “Alternative Fuel Systems” has been offering LPG equipment for the cheapest car in the country for several years, but before that, only “Vesta” and “Largusa” with LPG were officially supplied to the AvtoVAZ sales network.
Serial production of these models stopped in the spring due to problems with the supply of components, so now attention has been switched to the Grant.
Under the hood, an eight-valve 1.6 engine (90 hp, 143 Nm on gasoline) is installed, certified according to the Euro-2 standard. The recoil indicators when working on compressed gas are not indicated by VAZ, but it is clear that they are somewhat lower.
Behind the backs of the rear seats is an 80-liter cylinder of compressed methane. It will not work to carry rangefinders in such a Grant, and the useful volume of the trunk has decreased from 520 to 340 liters. The average gas consumption, according to the developers, is 6.1 cubic meters. m/100 km. Thus, with full tanks (a gas cylinder and a 50-liter gas tank), the car will be able to drive 1000 km without refueling – for example, from the main AvtoVAZ checkpoint to Red Square. For safe operation of HBO, a fuse and a high-speed valve are provided.
LPG equipment is available for all Grants configurations with air conditioning. Surcharge for modification on compressed methane will be 45 thousand rubles, that is, a dual-fuel sedan is available for 800.9 thousand rubles without additional options.
