The “pre-reform” UX was at one time the first BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) electric vehicle in the Lexus lineup. The restyled car, according to the manufacturer, has been modernized as part of the Lexus Electrified corporate strategy.
The main change in the “materiel” was a new battery, the capacity of which increased from the previous 54.4 to 72.8 kWh.
The declared power reserve of the car increased due to such a “battery” by 40% – up to 450 km.
The battery can be charged from CHAdeMO fast charging stations.
The 4KM traction motor powering the new UX 300e remains unchanged at 150 kW (203 hp); maximum torque – 300 Nm. The engine consumes 166.7 Wh of electricity per kilometer.
The chassis of the new UX 300e has new rear Performance Dampers (they are installed on the model already in the “base”), as well as a reconfigured electric power steering. The rigidity of the body has been increased by adding 20 new welding points during its manufacture. The final development tests of the updated UX 300e took place at the Toyota technical center Shimoyama.
The interior of the Lexus compact electric crossover has not changed in terms of design, but it has become more functional than before. The electric car received an updated multimedia system with a higher resolution display, a different instrument panel visor, as well as an updated center console with Type-C USB connectors for charging mobile devices.
In addition, the electric UX received a proprietary complex of active safety systems “Lexus Safety System +” with extended functionality. In particular, the electronic “assistants” of the driver better control the situation around the car due to more “advanced” cameras and radars.
The updated electric crossover will join the family of Lexus UX models (with indices 200 and 250h), which underwent restyling earlier this year. Orders for the new UX 300e will begin to be accepted in the near future, with the first customers receiving their cars in the spring of 2023.
