Mitsubishi has upgraded the Xpander Cross, a cross-country vehicle for Southeast Asia.

The cross version of the Xpander monocab appeared at the end of 2019, and its differences were mainly in the body kit made of unpainted plastic and increased ground clearance. The model is produced at the Bekasi plant and is intended for the markets of the ASEAN countries. In five years, combined sales of the Xpander and Xpander Cross have exceeded 470,000 units, making it the third most popular Mitsubishi model in the region.
Last year, the base Xpander underwent an update, having received not only new lighting equipment (T-shaped design of the front and rear optics and turn indicators placed in the position lights), but also increased ground clearance to cross-van 225 mm.
At the same time, changes were made to the suspension design: the rear shock absorber cylinder now has a larger diameter, and the front strut mounts have become stiffer.
Now, of course, the Cross-version also has all this. But only regular high-profile tires will help to feel the difference between models on off-road.
Under the hood is still a proven 1.5-liter “aspirated” 4A91 (105 hp, 141 Nm), which is paired with a five-speed manual gearbox, but for a surcharge, instead of a four-speed “automatic”, a variator is now offered. Drive – only front.

But the interior has been improved. The driver now has a fully digital instrument panel and a 9-inch touch screen multimedia system (the usual Xpander has analog instruments and displays up to 8 inches). The steering wheel was changed to a four-spoke, with an increased rim diameter. There was a system of all-round cameras and wireless smartphone charging. The maximum wheel size is now 17 inches, the same as the base Xpander. On the other hand, metallic green, which is not available for a simple single-cab, has been added to the exterior palette.

In the near future, the updated Xpander Cross will go on sale to Indonesian dealers of the brand, and subsequently the model will be delivered to other countries in Southeast Asia. The price for the updated crossover starts at 300 million 915 thousand Indonesian rupiah (about 1.25 million rubles).
