The Russian representative office of Geely has announced prices for the flagship crossover Monjaro, which has been sold in the homeland since 2021 under the name Geely Xingyue L. This is the second model of the brand in Russia on the CMA modular platform jointly developed with Volvo after the Tugella cross-coupe.
The cars have the same suspension scheme (“MacPherson” in front, “multi-link” in the back) and the power unit: a 2.0-liter turbo engine (238 hp, 350 Nm) in conjunction with an 8-speed “automatic” and an all-wheel drive system with Haldex electro-hydraulic clutch on the rear axle.
Monjaro is noticeably larger than the Tugella (the dimensions of the novelty are 4770 x 1895 x 1689 mm; the wheelbase is 2845 mm), but it is available exclusively in a five-seat version: three-row versions are only available in China. In terms of trunk volume, Monjaro is also preferable: 562 liters under the curtain instead of 326 liters for the cross-coupe. Finally, the ground clearance is 210mm.
The front overhang of the Monjaro is shorter than the Tugella and the rear overhang is longer, but the approach/departure angles are only 19°, while the lower and more compact model is 21°/25°. Interestingly, the curb weight is only 40 kg higher (Monjaro has 1855 kg), but in acceleration to “hundreds”, the larger Geely loses eight-tenths of a second to the cross-coupe: 7.7 s versus 6.9. Apparently, the matter is in the gear ratios, because the maximum speed of the Monjaro is higher: 215 km/h versus 210.
Passport consumption in the combined cycle is 8.5 l / 100 km (0.4 l more than that of the Tugella), however, the crossover has a higher power reserve due to a more capacious gas tank (62 l versus 54). Regularly, six driving modes are provided: a certain “Intelligent” mode has been added to Tugell’s “Comfort”, “Sport”, “Eco”, “Snow” and “Off-road”.
Geely Monjaro debuts on our market in three trim levels. The initial Luxury (from 4,499,990 excluding discounts) is equipped with 19-inch wheels, a “leather” interior, three-zone climate control, an all-round camera system, heated all seats (front – electrically adjustable; driver’s – also with ventilation and memory function ), panoramic roof, adaptive cruise control, power trunk, as well as keyless entry and remote engine start.
The next Flagship package (from 4,699,990 rubles) will include 20-inch wheels, as well as tinted rear windows and additional noise insulation of the front windows, an auto-dimming interior mirror, an extended set of electronic assistants with control and lane change systems and blind spots, navigational seat ventilation, a head-up display, an additional 12.3-inch touchscreen for the front passenger, an audio system with 10 speakers (instead of eight on the base version) and an automatic parking system with 12 sensors (the Luxury has eight).
The most expensive version of the Exclusive (from 4,799,900 rubles) differs in design: there is an extended interior trim in black leather combined with green suede (instead of brown leather with beige accents), bronze-colored decorative overlays on the body, more refined wheels and a key.
For comparison, prices for Tugella start at 4 million rubles, excluding special offers, and the top version of Flagship costs 4.33 million rubles. At the same time, in China, the situation is reversed: for the most equipped Xingyue L, they ask for 185.2 thousand yuan, and for the cross-coupe Xingyue (the native name of Tugella) – 195.8 thousand yuan.
Geely’s Russian dealers will have their first vehicles in April. At first, Monjaro will be delivered to us from China, although the management of the BelGee Belarusian plant previously announced plans to localize the flagship model of the brand on its site.
