The upcoming cooperation between AvtoVAZ and the Chinese automaker FAW, which is planned to be involved in the project of restarting car production at the former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg, is no longer a secret even for the Open.
X-Cross 5 will be the largest model in the AvtoVAZ lineup (Bestune T77 dimensions – 4525 x 1845 x 1615 mm; wheelbase – 2700 mm). Ground clearance is 180 mm, all-wheel drive is not provided. Trunk volume – 375 liters.
Under the hood is a 1.5 turbo engine that is not very profitable in terms of taxation, which develops 160 hp. With. and 258 Nm (it is possible that for the “Lada” it will be deformed to “sub-tax” 150 forces).
In the basic version of the Bestune T77, it is equipped with a 6-speed manual gearbox, but for more equipped crossovers, a 7-speed “robot” with two clutches transmits torque to the wheels.
Until now, Bestune T77 has been delivered to Russia from the city of Changchun, where the FAW plant is located. Most likely, the FAW-branded crossover will leave our market, as happened before with the JAC JS4, which was replaced by Moskvich 3.
Apparently, from China they will continue to supply ready-made car kits, which will be assembled using the “screwdriver” method at a plant in St. Petersburg. Earlier, AvtoVAZ President Maxim Sokolov said that the company’s medium-term goal is “deep localization and achievement of technological sovereignty for the entire Lada brand”, that is, a transition to full-cycle production with welding and body painting is still planned.
Earlier, information appeared that the Nissan plant would be restarted in the second half of 2023. In addition to the Bestune T77, under the Lada brand, it is planned to localize a “D-class sedan” (FAW does not have such a model): under this wording, most likely, the FAW Bestune B70 liftback (length – 4810 mm), sales of which started today in Russia.

The prices of the new Lada X-Cross 5 can already be predicted. The initial configuration of the Bestune T77 with “mechanics” is estimated at 2,169,000 rubles (from 2,273,000 rubles for the version with a “robot”), and for the most expensive configuration, Prestige DCT Plus, they ask for 2,432,000 rubles.
