Exactly two years have passed since the premiere of the C4 five-door cross-hatchback, and now the leadership of the Stellantis alliance has decided to dilute the range with a four-door version. Of course, the CMP front-wheel drive platform and technology are the same: in terms of wheelbase (2670 mm), width (1800 mm) and height (1525 mm), the sedan and hatchback are identical. However, the C4 X received an additional 24 cm in the rear overhang, due to which the overall length increased to 4600 mm.
Alas, the prefix “cross” is still justified only by plastic lining around the perimeter of the body. Ground clearance remains the same – 156 mm. But the sloping roof helped improve aerodynamics: the drag coefficient of the sedan is 0.29 versus 0.32 for the hatchback.
But most importantly, the volume of the trunk has increased significantly. If the standard C4 has only 380 liters, then the sedan will offer riders already 510 liters of usable volume. Of the changes in the cabin – the MyCitroen Drive Plus media system, “wired” into the body of the previous 10-inch display, and the angle of inclination of the rear sofa backrest increased to 27 degrees.
In the countries of Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa, the cross-sedan will be available with a 1.2 PureTech petrol “turbo engine” in two boost options (the type of gearbox depends on it – a six-speed “mechanics” or an eight-speed “automatic”) with 100 hp. With. (205 Nm) and 136 hp. With. (230 Nm) or with a diesel “four” 1.5 BlueHdi (130 hp, 300 Nm) and automatic transmission.
In Western Europe, buyers will only be offered an electric version of the e-C4 X. The traction motor on the front axle develops 100 kW (136 hp) and 260 Nm and is powered by a 50-kilowatt battery. Improved aerodynamics will allow you to drive further on the electric sedan – the power reserve in the WLTP cycle has increased from 350 to 360 km.
Cross-sedans will be assembled at the same plant as regular C4s at the Stellantis plant in Madrid. Sales will begin this autumn. The price has not yet been announced, but for the base gasoline cross-hatch they ask from 22.8 thousand euros, and the electric version is available for 35.3 thousand euros without options.
