GM has announced a recall of 140,000 Chevrolet Bolt EV electric vehicles from the North American market due to the risk of fire.

According to Reuters, cars from 2017-2023 model years fall under the recall.

The reason for the announcement of the campaign was the possibility of fire in the event of an accident with fabric interior rugs when the seat belt pretensioners are triggered.
In rare cases, the agency clarifies, citing a message from the concern, hot gases from a triggered pretensioner squib can cause a rug to ignite if it hits its fabric.
In the United States, 120,000 cars will be recalled as part of the campaign, and another 20,000 electric vehicles will be recalled in Canada.
Earlier, in 2021, as Dvizhok already reported, GM recalled the same number of Chevrolet Bolt EVs.

Then the campaign was announced in connection with the risk of ignition of the battery in the process of charging.
