In terms of dimensions (4400 x 1830 x 1588 mm; wheelbase – 2630 mm, ground clearance – 190 mm), the new Chery sub-brand is an analogue of the BMW X1 or Mercedes-Benz GLA. In the Middle Kingdom, the model has been sold since last year under the name Chery Omoda 5. The trunk volume is 378 liters (almost 100 liters less than that of the Tiggo 7 Pro), but under the floor there is a full-size spare tire.
Versions for the Russian market are equipped with a 1.5-liter turbo engine, like the Chery Tiggo 4 (147 hp, 210 Nm), working in conjunction with a stepless V-chain variator. Drive – only front.
Acceleration to “hundreds” takes 9.9 s, top speed – 195 km / h. The declared consumption in the combined cycle (AI-92 gasoline is acceptable) is 7.1 l / 100 km.
In China, older configurations have a 1.6 turbo engine (197 hp, 290 Nm) and a preselective “robot”, as well as an independent rear suspension, but they do not plan to supply such cars to us yet.
In front of the driver is a bunch of two 10.25-inch displays on the front panel (for Chery Omoda 5, 12.3-inch screens are available for a fee), and the gesture recognition system and branded audio system are not included in the list of options.
Despite assurances that the Omoda C5 should replace premium European brands in the Russian market, the new product turned out to be only slightly more expensive than the updated Chery Tiggo 4 Pro, but cheaper than the Tiggo 7 Pro.
The cost of the initial version of Joy, excluding discounts, is 2,429,900 rubles. The standard equipment of the cross-coupe includes 18-inch wheels, rear parking sensors with a camera, four airbags, remote engine start, dual-zone climate control, satellite navigation and a four-speaker audio system. The seats are upholstered in a combination of fabric and genuine leather.
The average Lifestyle package (2,569,900 rubles) will add to this list front fog lights, electric folding mirrors, atmospheric interior lighting, all-round cameras and front parking sensors, an assistant when driving in traffic jams and ventilation of the front seats (driver’s – with three-band electric adjustment) and two additional speakers of the audio system and two airbags, and the rear sofa will receive a heating function and a folding armrest. The seats are trimmed in black leather, and the 18-inch wheels have decorative inserts in red.
The top-end Ultimate package (2,699,900 rubles) will have red brake calipers and, as an option, a black roof. The list of options will be supplemented by a panoramic sunroof, a rain sensor, adaptive cruise control, a lane control function, adaptive optics, a DVR, a power front passenger seat (dual-range) and brown leather trim.
Seven exterior colors are available for the new Omoda C5: white, black, silver, grey, light blue, dark blue and light green. The company has already opened the acceptance of orders, but the first customer batches from China will arrive at dealers only in November. By this time, the active formation of the dealer network of the Omoda brand will begin, however, as in the case of Exeed, Chery dealers will be engaged in sales. And by the summer of 2023, the Omoda brand line will be replenished with a sedan and another crossover.
