Changan continues to saturate the Russian market with new machines. However, the thirteenth model in the range is not just another SUV, sedan or liftback: the brand will make its debut in the segment of full-size frame pickups.
The Hunter Plus is the export version of the Changan Lantop, which has been on sale in China since last November. It is based on the Kaicene F70 model (Changan is represented under this brand on the home market of commercial vehicles), but it has been significantly modified to meet the needs of discerning private traders.
Instead of a spring rear suspension, a spring one is installed (“empty” to pass speed bumps on it is incomparably more comfortable), and a 2.0-liter gasoline turbo engine is installed under the hood, which is aggregated with an 8-speed “automatic” ZF: the already familiar to the Russians has exactly the same bunch Changan Uni-K. In China, the power plant develops 239 hp. With. and 390 Nm, however, for Russia, apparently, the engine is again deformed somewhat.
The front axle is forcibly connected via a multi-plate clutch, there is also a Borg Warner transfer case and a reduction gear. Chassis – with a double wishbone suspension in front and a solid axle in the rear.
There are also 5.6-meter Lantops in China, but a shorter modification 5350 mm long (wheelbase – 3430 mm; body width – 1980 mm, height – 1875 mm) and a 160-cm loading platform (compartment width – 1595 mm, height – 500 mm). The ground clearance is 225 mm, which provides an approach angle of 26° and an exit angle of 28°. Load capacity has not yet been specified.
The salon is also “crossover”, with perforated leatherette trim, two displays (the central one has a diagonal of 12.3 inches), a “washer” of the transmission selector and a multifunctional steering wheel with electric power. Also declared a wide range of electronic assistants.
Sales at official dealers will begin before the end of June. The price has not yet been announced, however, apparently, the Changan pickup truck will compete in our market with the GWM Poer, similar in size (3.6–3.75 million rubles for configurations with automatic transmission) and slightly used Japanese cars. The warranty for Hunter Plus will be five years or 150 thousand kilometers.
